Marvel Studios’ Massive 2028 Reveal: David Jonsson Named New Black Panther, Ryan Gosling Joins MCU as Ghost Rider

Marvel Studios is making waves by greatly expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They’ve officially announced David Jonsson will be the new Black Panther and Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige shared this big casting news during the studio’s much-awaited Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

These announcements signal a major new phase for the MCU. Both films are set to hit theaters in 2028 and will offer new takes on two of Marvel’s most famous characters.

David Jonsson Becomes the Next Black Panther

David Jonsson will take on the role of the Black Panther, playing an older version of Prince T’Challa II, who goes by Toussaint. He’s the son of the late King T’Challa, originally played by the late Chadwick Boseman.

In the next Black Panther movie, Toussaint will become Wakanda’s new defender. He’ll carry on the story from the earlier films but also move the franchise in a new way.

Jonsson, known for his work in Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, is quickly becoming a big name in Hollywood. His casting shows that Marvel wants to introduce new heroes while still respecting the original Black Panther.

Ryan Coogler, who directed the earlier Black Panther movies, is coming back to direct the third one. The movie is set to come out in theaters on December 15, 2028.

Ryan Gosling Finally Enters the MCU as Ghost Rider

Marvel also announced that Ryan Gosling is coming to the MCU as Johnny Blaze, who you might know better as the Ghost Rider.

The actor himself shared at the Hall H event that he’s wanted to play Ghost Rider for ages, so this news was a pretty huge deal at the convention.

Gosling is going to star in his own Ghost Rider movie. It’s a new Marvel Studios production that’ll bring the famous motorcycle-riding character back to cinemas.

Shawn Levy, who also directed Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, will be directing the movie. Jonathan Tropper is writing the script. The film is slated for a 2028 release, but they haven’t set a specific date yet.

With David Jonsson stepping into the Black Panther legacy and Ryan Gosling bringing Ghost Rider into the MCU, Marvel Studios is preparing for a major shift in its cinematic universe.
